Spirit Successes

We are proud of the young people we get to know on Spirit, many of whom go on to pursue the maritime interests sparked during their voyages. Young Bermudians currently pursuing maritime studies at Warsash Maritime Academy, New England Institute of Technology, and Holland College, include:

Daniel Brangman – Started on a local voyage at 17 yrs. old; serves as relief Engineer or First Officer when available
Kristen Greene – Started at 13 yrs. old; serves as charter/relief crew when available
Vernon Harrison – Started at 13 yrs. old
Denzel Todd – Started while at CedarBridge Academy
Rodrico Bean – Started while at CedarBridge Academy; became a Watch Leader
Courtney Dublin – Started while in high school
Elijah Simmons – Past Watch Leader on Spirit, recently completed maritime qualifications at Holland College
Tre Jones – Past Watch Leader on Spirit, recently completed maritime qualifications at Holland College
Gus Tucker – Past Watch Leader on Spirit, recently completed maritime qualifications at Holland College
Tristan DeSilva – Past Spirit Watch Leader, Charter Crew and Junior Watch Officer
Dylan Moulder - Started while in middle school, serves as charter crew when available, studying Marine Science in Canada

Many of our Spirit student crew are now in the workplace and attest to how their experience coming through the programme shaped their lives. We will be featuring some of these impressive young people in each edition of the Sloop Scoop. Perhaps you know some of these young men:

Mario Swainson – First Bermudian Captain of The Venetian Charter Boat and currently working aboard Richard Branson’s 105 ft. yacht Necker Belle
Lawson Williams – Past First Officer on Spirit, now with Marine & Ports
Edward Stowe – Pilot of Bermudian (cruise ship tender)
James Doughty – Currently First Officer on Spirit
Daniel Martin – Works on a fishing charter boat
Reid Perinchief – Certified technician working with Bermuda Air Conditioning
Travis Robinson – Certified motor bike mechanic
Daniel Galloway – Currently Charter Crew Chief and relief Watch Leader on Spirit
